Apple fanboys pony up, cause my brand the-affair is officially the very first t-shirt brand with a mobile store, accessible through everyone’s favourite gadget. That’s right, our awesome Flash website is now available on the i’m-so-very-very-cool-but-still-can’t-play-Flash, iPhone. That’s right fanboys, you heard right – FLASH ON THE IPHONE!
So how did we achieve this little bit of tech-magic I hear you ask? Well, actually we did very little… All you’re going to need is the VNSea client released recently, and obviously a VNSea server running on some other broadband computer that you can then control. Its a tad on the slow side too, but hey, that’s the price for the bleeding edge.
Thanks to Kamil, our resident Flash guru :)

Not exactly sure how many iterations there have been of the “Made of Japan” tagline now, but the latest from Strawberry Frog Amsterdam is a tribute to the awe-inspiring neon of Shinjuku. Great sound design as well, temple drums meets pachinko parlour – both amazing experiences in themselves, but never something I thought could be combined…

Yesterday Obey released his endorsement poster for Obama (left). Which is great, as I love Obey’s style and I certainly hope that Obama wins – because he might actually change the rotten institutions of American politics rather than just keep the status quo.
But then today, quick as lightning, someone has gone one step further and created a text-generator using the very same image (my version, right). You can only guess at what’s going to happen when the Clinton’s get their hands on this, but at the end of the day it will be Obama’s campaign that wins, because no matter what anyone writes underneath, it’ll still be his face that everyone sees first and associates with Obey’s original messages of “Hope” and “Progress”.
And while we’re on the subject YouBama has just launched which is essentially a user-gen video endorsement site for the main man. So get upping and add to the groundswell of opinion for a (radical) change in USA Inc.

I never really understood the link between tube map and trends (apart from an easy way to lay out various loosely linked pieces of information), but anyway here is the 2008 version.
Nothing too-crazy / unexpected here. But it is interesting to note the rise of “Karma capitalism”, which only caught my eye because I received an xmas gift in the form of a KarmaCurrency voucher (which I am yet to spend). This in itself is not very interesting. The fact that I got it from my technologically illiterate mother certainly is…

Being an Aussie, this latest work for PK got my attention immediately, because its a real progression from the ‘refreshes your breath’ positioning I remember whilst growing up. It used to be all about the confidence to eat onion rings on your salad. But with the new line “goodbye awkward”, PK gets into an whole other territory, much closer to the humour of that ‘close talker’ episode of Seinfeld. Add to that some beautifully executed photographs of near-empty spaces and you have a simple, humourous and yet very powerful piece of communication by DDB Australia.

You may not like magenta quite as much as Mr Doob (or even T-Mobile’s legal department for that matter), but you should definitely check out his experiments with the new-ish PV3D 2.0 alpha which supports run time lighting effects / shading.
Because if you remember anything about motion graphics circa 2001, your interweb is about to be infested. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Let’s just hope that the de rigeur feedback-infused soundtrack doesn’t come bundled with the effect this time around ;)

What better way to advertise a book about Guerilla Advertising than turn it into a self-publicising bag/accesory? Of course making it bright yellow doesn’t hurt either… Absolutely brilliant, via CR

This is sooooo geeky yet somehow still very appealing. Maybe its the sheer simplicity of it? Or perhaps that elegant serif? Or the fact that Steve Jobs needs a lesson in what to preceed the word ‘byte’ with these days. Either way Art Lebedev (yes, they of the Optimus Maximus fame) have got it covered with these Russian dolls. Perfect gift for your mother I say…

Simple, effective art direction from DDB Sydney in this series of road safety ads for the police. My only beef is the super old-school iPod they used. Either I’m waaaaay slow on the uptake here or just too old to realise that 2nd gens are actually heaps cooler than the new touches…

Apparently when the Swedish Army looks for officers they want beautiful blonde women (well it is Sweden after all) who can solve the Rubik’s cube. Well not quite. But they are after people who stay cool under pressure. And this is one of a series of elegant spots illustrating that fact.

Check out this new game by Vans, called “Finger Fracture” being developed specifically – SPECIFICALLY – for the iPhone. The screenshots look pretty cool, but its the fact that we used to make little skateboards out of wood/perspex back in high school and ‘ride’ them around the stair railings that makes this so appealing to the very people that are now owning iPhones.
It seems a pretty big gamble to put so much resource into such a tiny platform, but I’m certain its going to pay off ten times over in brand equity for Vans. We all need more clients like this – money where their mouth is – taking risks the size of their own (substantial) cojones!

“People in order: 1 – 100″ is a simple idea and an anthropologists wet dream. I love the difference in outlook on life that can be inferred from the way they touch/play/hit/belt the drum.

Nice, simple viral from Nike for their new super-fast football boots. Seems like the creatives have been watching a lot of Top Gear, but then again that’s not a bad thing ;)

Bold colours underpin a simple visual pun in this campaign for Listerine in Puerto Rico. But its a shame the ashtray execution isn’t pink-for-kisses, because there’s nothing worse than kissing a smoker if you’re not one yourself… via i believe in advertising.
