    Only in Italy

    Negroni Waterfall

Whilst I can see the conceptual appeal of creating a world out of your client’s products, it seems fairly clear that whilst that’s OK with chocolate, its pretty damn uncomfortable with meat. Perhaps if it was done in more of a ‘delicatessen’ style – dark and weird and more french? – then it might’ve worked… But as it stands I just can’t get past the sickening look of it.

    Guiness Music – inspiration?

Just got sent this absolutely crazy 3D clip. It looks very much like the inspiration for the new Guiness spot ‘Music’, which itself is a very nice extrapolation of this idea…

    Nike Retail 2007

    Nikeretail1

    Nikeretail2

Check these awesome Nike Retail posters out. They very impressively create the illusion of flat 3D space favoured by the Russian Constructivsts but actually using 3D objects to begin with, but then photographing them back into 2D… Ahhhh, its all a bit too po-mo for me… The short story is they’re lovely :) Photography courtesy of Maurice Scheltens, art direction by Liesbeth Abbenes.

    A few good creative men

Although I find the concept of writing ‘ads’ to be slightly prehistoric (or at least pre web 2.0), I’ve certainly felt like this a few times towards the ’suits’ of our industry. lol :)

    Upgrade to BA

    Ba Upgrade

Interesting plaguiarism appropriation of the Getty-commissioned Sumona project ‘Information’ by Agency.com for the latest BA campaign. The worst thing about it is not that the photos are truly awful stock, but that the feeling of the zoom transition is just not right. The difference between the fullscreen photo and its component photos is too harsh, with too few tones replicated in the composite. It seems the client must’ve baulked at the rising cost of the shithouse stock photography!

There’s something deliciously sick and twisted about watching a bunny melt according to various different methods of (heat)torture. I think my favourite has to be the light though, because for some reason the sagging face reminds me of all those ill people who get facelifts instead of growing old gracefully. Beautifully shot by Sander Plug

    35 years of Shinjuku

This is an amazing stop-motion film charting the (literal) rise of the Tokyo skyline. Not even being 35 years old, the sheer dedication and ambition of the task truly astounds…

    Human After All

Check out this viral film for Diesel’s new campaign – Human After All. There’s something extremely alluring about hearing European languages in space… But its the core idea that I love because its perfect for a top-range fashion brand. No matter how much tech we have surrounding us we are still emotional beings, liable to fuck up and at the mercy of said emotions (especially when buying expensive clothes). Catch the other two after the jump…

    Nike International Car Free Day

    Nikerun

The simplicity of this idea is perfectly supported by the 70’s-esque art direction, reflecting a time when the world was in fact a simpler place. The lack of copy is both ballsy and perfectly suited.

    Dove Onslaught

Onslaught is the follow up film to the amazing Evolution. Although it references the original in its pacing, its just not as good IMHO. But it is a natural evolution, and is still an interesting position for a company that probably (not all that long ago) was producing very similar ads to those it is so rightly shredding now. I love the humanity in the tagline, “Talk to your daughter before the beauty industry does”.

    Open to Anything

    Open2Anything

    Open2Anything.2

Full credit to Nokia for being so quick on the uptake in this new campaign aimed squarely at the (now very pissed off) early iPhone adopters… But I must say I was sorely disappointed when I tried to find the campaign online. Apart from the mac rumour sites and a few ad blogs, all I found was this glorified Flash banner and only on nokia.com!

How but how can such a massive opportunity to talk directly to iPhoners (read: people that spend shitloads of cash online already) and NOT have an integrated/online component. Why not create a dialogue with these people? IMHO the whole thing should’ve been online – Nokia should’ve bought all the ad space on all the Apple rumour blogs… In the end its a great idea, perfectly timed, but a wasted opportunity as nothing more than a nice poster.

    Your value = USD$0.13

WTF I hear you cry, I’m only worth 13 measly US cents?!?! Well apparently so, as the “I Am Hungry” Facebook app has just sold on eBay for a shade over USD$20,000. With over 250K installs, it means that all that you value about yourself can be reduced to USD$0.13. Doesn’t sound like much does it?
