Moving Server

Just a quick note to say that I’m moving across to mediatemple’s (gs) grid server this week, and there’ll probably be some downtime. Fret not though, i will be back…

Hey .. just stopping by and saw that you are moving to MT’s GS (Grid Service) server. It’s no a Grid Server. It’s Grid Services.

I have client running on their GS server and having some MySQL connection issues when it gets a lot of traffic. Just want to hear from your about your experience with MT.

Although MT troubles me few times, I am happy with them so far.

    Nice blog. Looks great!

Looking forward to hearing from you!

    Have a great weekend!

    Hey Terence,

thanks for your comment, i hope you enjoy the blog and keep reading it ;)

I’ve literally just set up with MT… i’m still unable to get into my FTP? i use transmit and osx and it just won’t connect?!?!?! weird… anyway i’ve set up a help ticket almost 24 hours ago and still have no reply :(

    i hope they’re not always this slow…

MT used to response fast. I called many time before I signed my client with them. You can try to give them a call.

I think their support is better than their server performance. :-)

Hope you enjoy your hosting at MT. Good luck!

Zol - I’ve been using MT for a couple of years and aren’t that impressed. Especially with the new grid server/services stuff which seems painfully slow. My plan is to move to these dudes:

I know the web interface they’ve got isn’t as slick but they’ve got a good reputation and beat MT with a couple of geeky features.

    Take it easy.

hi simon, unfortunately (perhaps, hopefully not) i’ve just paid a year’s worth at MT… it seems all good so far i guess - except for their slow initial response to my lack of http://FTP... i’ll def keep this updated with my experiences, as its certainly a topic for discussion!

I’ve not had great experience with (MT)GS - its not very stable. I really hope the fix it soon.

Some more debate on (MT)GS: http://www.yaccovijn.com/blog/?p=132

thanks yacco, i wish i had known all this before i changed… but the thing is i was sick of not being able to host tonnes of diff URL’s on the one account. i have several personal ones and increasingly freelance ones as well so i was drawn to MT’s unlimited (? or it might be up to 100 i cannot remember) domains

i did a quick google, and it seemed that there were a lot of problems with the (gs) when it launched, but i assumed they were all ironed out now as its been quite a while…

anyway i paid 12 months up front, so i’m stuck with MT either way

Have your say
