This Australian initiative is trying to use myspace as a casting agent by tapping into everyone’s desire to be famous – be it for 15mb or 15mins. I think its a super simple idea and thus is almost certain to work very very well…

A little unusual in its application, but no less addictive i’d say ;) And think about all those annoying bleeps being replaced by the woderously sublime sound of smashing glass…

He might not have much idea about colour, but Don Park knows a thing or two about IP addresses. So obsessed is our Don that he’s gone ahead and made dynamic ‘identicons’ for everyone who comments in this guy’s blog based on their IP. As I’ve said before, i think IP information is a really cool way of generating difference, most especially with brands and identity systems that live primarily online.

This is probably not new, but its still al lovely simple idea and brilliantly executed.

So it seems the all-over craze has made it off tees and onto the proper street ;) sorry, couldn’t help the (admittedly awful) pun!

As a rule, I don’t normally post TV spots, because I think by and large they are mostly overpriced-adland-ego-trips. However, occasioanlly a sublime one with a beautifully strong and simple concept that doesn’t use a sledgehammer to ram it down your throat comes along… And this latest ad by Saatch & Saatchi Sydney falls into this category. I won’t tell you what its for or i’ll spoil it, so you’ll just have to watch it…

According to LogoOrange, these are the 11 trends that will define logo design in 2007. There’s definitely something for everyone, so I’m not sure exactly how something gets ‘trend’ status, but hey… Anyway I’m surprised the web 2.0 ‘wet effect’ only comes in at number 3 :-P

Remember Pjotro? Well, he’s back with the sequel, and… it could’ve been good but its really shit :) The ‘trailer’ is awesomely bad/funny depending on your POV…

Hack-Able Curator is an interesting idea whereby a robotic arm takes over the role of curator in a photographic exhibition. By using a combination of Flickr as the source and an SMS rating system, the project effectively hands control over to the user/viewer. Not only is this a very cool idea, but being able to affect an exhibitionis a compelling one indeed.
But obviously it could be anything that you are affecting, and the grander the scale the better the impact. Imagine if you could control the lights on a bridge? Rr what film gets played at your local cinema? or… whatever…

What better to sell boring clothes than a bunch of Japanese guys doing weird dances? The loop-based mixer idea is by no means a new one, but this is executed very well nevertheless. And you just can’t help but enjoy Japanese guys trying to be superfly b-boys!

Not being American, I don’t know who Bruce Campbell is, but I like his monotone delivery in this cheeky Old Spice spot. I also like the round room idea, with the obscenely long and totally kitsch naval painting. Also the fact that he finishes in the mirror-image of where he starts. And the freaky other-wordly fire starting of its own accord. Very understated cool…
