    Banksy’s new show

    Banksy La

You all would’ve heard of Banksy’s new show in LA - with the live pink elephant and the cash-toting celebs inc Mr Pitt and Miss Jolie - but in case you haven’t seen the pics, here they all are… All his best stuff seems to be there and whilst some will inevitably whinge about how he’s sold out, who else would dream of getting away with painting a real-life elephant pink?

    Kurt Cobain VS Google Adsense

    Cobain Vs Google

US artist Cory Arcangel (pseudonym?) has recently posted Kurt Cobain’s entire suicide note along with a series of contextual ads from Google… Although his stated intention is to “demonstrate just how clueless AdSense (is)”, its the irony of ads such as “Regain emotional balance” that i just couldn’t resist…

    Flickr meets the humble umbrella

    Flickr Umbrella

It looks like nobody told those crazy kids over at Keio University that mash-ups are normally exclusively digital things… They’ve taken the flickr API and combined it with… an umbrella! And just to make sure you won’t ever get bored in the rain again, they included a digital camera up the top which - you guessed it - automatically sends pics (of lots of raindrops i’m guessing) to your flickr account.

    Paul Frank vs. Paul Frank

    Paul Frank

A very interesting article on Paul Frank and his recent (ignominious?) departure from his namesake company. What happens when you no longer control what you think is rightfully yours to control? At the very least its a warning and potential wake up call for anyone thinking about naming a company after themselves…

    Stingrays beware!

It seems that the shock of Steve Irwin’s death has been taken particularly hard up in QLD where people have been revenging his death by killing anything even resembling a stingray. Fucking idiots. As if it isn’t bad enough that he’s dead, all these idiots are completely missing what was his core message… Unfortunately not one of my country-men’s finest moments.

17 percent news, 83 percent cotton

    T-Post

T-post is a really nice twist on the t-shirt idea… Blending the worlds of magazine/news and fashion, T-post has managed to stand out from the plethora of other online tee brands. You subscribe much like a magazine, and every 6 weeks you get a new shirt, by a different designer. But wait, there’s more! Every tee is inspired by a news event that occurred within that 6 week period (and for your mental convenience, that article is printed on the inside of each shirt). So not only do you get a constantly fresh wardrobe, but you get a wearable conversation piece!

    Hard drives turn 50!

    First Hdd

Fifty years ago yesterday, IBM invented the first hard drive. This baby held around 5 MB of data at a cost of $10,000 per megabyte! It probably bears a little thinking about what we’d all be doing every day if they hadn’t???

    Wu Orleans

    Wu Orleans

The latest mashup I’ve seen comes courtesy of DJ BC. In an effort to demonstrate his (enviable) remixing skills he’s mashed New Orleans jazz with the Wu-Tang… The result is some seriously funky shit that even you’re momma’s going to appreciate!

    roddick VS pong

OK so its not that new (launched Jan this year for the Australian Open), but this spot for Amex is such a brilliantly simple idea that I couldn’t resist.

    Banksy vs Paris

Banksy has doctored 500 copies of Paris Hilton’s debut album (which is guaranteed to be the shittest thing ever) in 48 record shops across the UK. Funnily enough, according to an HMV voice, no customers had complained or returned a doctored version! Banksy you fucking rock! Read more here or for hi-res images, go see Sharl

    Prehistoric cartoons

    Animatus

One of the simplest ideas I’ve seen in a long time, Hyungkoo Lee’s exhibition “Animatus” transforms the iconic 2D cartoon characters of our childhoods into 3D skeletal ‘remains’ reminiscent of a natural history museum. More images after the jump…
