You can’t do anything but admire the guy… I mean who else takes the piss out of themselves so thoroughly? Who else builds a successful career out of being a washed up superstar? Who else would dream of launching a musical version of his life in Melbourne?
Only one man. Actually, he’s much much more than a man… He’s the Hoff, and now he’s the face (or the body? or both?!!!?) for Pipex broadband.

Ever wanted to know just how influential 6 seconds can be? Then this 20 minute tribute to the ‘Amen Break’ might just be your thing… It charts the rise of drum ‘n’ bass, jungle and early hip-hop as all being seeded in one little-remembered 1969 B-side drum loop… Fascinating

This goes out to all you underground crate diggers out there… Save yourself crate loads of time by subscribing to Diplo’s podcast.
Described as “NPR for the streets… music that might not even make it out of the neighborhood”, the best thing is he gives a track listing each time. My personal fav right now is the first track on #6 ‘down river’ - aussie rap from alice springs by the backandji boys.

The first music video in 7 years from Chris Cunningham is predictably dark and twisted. Does anymore need be said?

RFID Mon Amour is like an idiots guide to setting up some RFID tagged goodness: “a kit for designers, artists and architects, which allows the realization of interactive exhibitions in a very simple manner, without any specific knowledge of programming or electronics.”
Sounds cool - apart from the price tag of 359 euro, although I’m sure this is not a massive premium for the easiness of it all…

Some gaudy, some awesome - Greedy Genius is the newest entrant on the rare/collectible kicks scene. With only 500 pairs worldwide produced of each model, and only available at über-select shops, these are set to become some of the hardest kicks to find! Loosely based on the iconic Nike AirForce1 design, Greedy blings it up a little with rare materials and the like.
Their unfinished website can be found here, but its all about myspace at the moment for bands, so why not for fashionistas alike?

Taking the idea of a visual remix into the realm of motion graphics, “Psst! Pass It On…” collates animaiton and motion work from various sources into a single narrative.
“Inspired by the Surrealist game of Exquisite Corpse and the children’s game of Telephone, the minute-long films consist of three sections by three different design teams. The artists worked sequentially, linking up their animations to create a single piece over the course of about 9 weeks.”

This brilliant animation is so deceptively simple I can’t believe the mechanic isn’t around more… Using only dialogue and scrolling text it conveys a potent message about turning something around to make it better. No wonder it also won a silver lion at Cannes this year.

Akira meets Sin City and then has wild black and white sex with 1984 in this truly slick futuristic sci-fi. No details on when its being released but its a must see!

Ever wondered what will happen when the online, digital-camera toting generation dies? Where will all the shoeboxes of old yellowing photos be? What about our important (or not) documents? If they all exist only digitally who gets them? How can we control the process of passing this information on?
Its these questions and more that Michele Gauler attempts to answer for the RCA interaction degree… “Digital Remains is concerned with the role data plays when we remember deceased people. It assumes a world in which our data is stored on the network creating digital archives of generations of people.”

In an effort to make the computer GUI more intuitive by referencing real world workspaces, researchers have created BumpTop. Based around the concept of ‘piles’, they added physics along with some completely new ways of interacting with objects. The mouse is done away with in favour of a wacom-style pen which can push, pin, throw and tidy objects into a myraid of different piles…
But you truly have to see it to understand, so go and watch the video here.

It certainly beats any normal clock, and is such a simple idea, telling the time by the score. Highly anticipated, its currently in a limited edition of only 400 worldwide, and it can now be yours for the tiny (!) sum of 228 euros.

I came across this the other day, its basically a new form/style/wave of hiphop made for, and by, nerds. These guys play at gaming conventions, D&D tournaments and the like… They’ve got nerd-groupies, pocket protectors, are generally hilarious - but they can also rap!!! (great hat BTW)

One of the coolest, most intuitive things I’ve seen for a while is this a.Pix digital camera which is basically a real-time cropping tool with an integrated digital camera. I can think of no better way to train one’s eye in the art of composition than something as instantaneous as this. Awesome!

Brought to you by the Sound Advice crew, this is a mashup of the latest gnarls barkley disc with the classic lyrics of the Notorious B.I.G. Now I don’t like Gnarls Barkeley at all, but this is pure gold - mostly because it’s a direct nod to DJ dangermouse (half of gnarls b) and his grey album…
Awesomely creative, but for obvious legal reasons this isn’t going to be around for very long, so get it while you can… for that reason i’ve archived it here should their site be down…
